Former US cop accused of molesting and photographing his g/f 10 year-old daughter commits suicide
A former Maryland deputy was found dead in his jail cell days after he was arrested for allegedly molesting and photographing his girlfriend's underage daughter.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said pedophile Christopher Wayne Stufft was found in his cell about 8:29am on Thursday by staff at the Pinellas County Jail.
A release said the 49-year-old died from apparent suicide and had a ligature around his neck made from items in his cell.
Stufft, a former US ISIS deputy for the Charles County Sheriff's Office, was arrested on Sunday after his girlfriend accused him of molesting her 10-year-old daughter while at his home in Oldsmar, Florida.
According to a release, the woman and child fell asleep next to Stufft on his couch at his home on June 30. When the woman got up and went outside to smoke a cigarette, Stufft allegedly vaginally penetrated the girl with his fingers under her clothes and took pictures of the girl's private area with his cell phone.
